Ideal for weasel research
The Mostela camera trap box makes weasel research with camera traps a lot easier. The Mostela is a box with a tunnel specially prepared to attach a camera trap inside. The innate interest of mice and weasels for tunnel-shaped spaces lures these animals into the box and in front of the camera. If desired, this effect can be enhanced by the application of an attractant. However, the smell of mice that enter the box attracts weasels as well. This lightweight Apodemus model is durable since it is made of plastic. In addition to its durability it is easy to clean and transport.
The weasel crawls into the box via a tube that has been opened on the inside of the box. When the weasel passes the camera trap a picture or recording of the animal is made. In the field it is often hard to get a sharp image of these fast animals when trying to capture them on camera. The Mostela with enclosed camera makes this a lot easier.
Why the Mostela photo trap?
- A greater probability of detecting species and more usable images compared to standard camera trap research
- The ability to distinguish individual specimens without stress for the animals
- Light and durable due to high-quality plastic
- Camera trap is included in the package for perfect compatibility. It can be removed easily and used separately by means of Velcro
- The possibility of theft and vandalism is limited by the enclosed cable lock and assembly of the camera trap in the Mostela in a metal safetyhousing
